About Maharah

Maharah is a technology and innovation initiative implemented by Libyan Spider, with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and funding from a network of donors. It aims to empower young people in Libya to acquire digital skills and apply them in developing practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Through its programs, Maharah builds the technical capacities of youth in line with labor market needs, while strengthening their skills in analytical thinking, collaboration, and innovation. It also contributes to sustainable development by enabling the development of solutions that enhance urban resilience and improve service quality.

      What is the Maharah Initiative?

      Originally launched as a coding-focused program, Maharah has evolved into a broader platform that delivers multiple initiatives supporting skills development, accelerated learning, and applied innovation across sectors.

      What is the Maharah Urban Tech Initiative?

      The Maharah Urban Tech Initiative is an applied innovation program that brings together diverse participants to develop technology-driven solutions addressing urban and development challenges.

      Maharah Urban Tech Initiative is funded by the Italian Embassy in Libya, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and executed by Libyan Spider.

      What is Maharah Coding Academy?

      It is the first training camp for Maharah Initiative, which started with registration in December 2023 and concluded in March 2024. The training program was held in 3 Libyan cities covering the west, east, and south of Libya, namely: Tripoli, Benghazi, and Sabha, with two groups (paths) for each city: the full-stack web development path and the mobile app development path. The program targeted those interested in coding in the three cities, aged 18 to 30, and saw the graduation of 127 selected trainees.

      Maharah Coding Academy is funded by the European Union, supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and implemented by Libyan Spider. 

      What is Blitz Build?

      It is one of the Maharah Initiative programs designed to develop your skills quickly through intensive, diverse training courses.

      Are there any other training programs?

      Yes, we continue to support programming skills and talents through more training programs that will be announced on an ongoing basis.

      Is there a certificate for trainees after the program?

      Yes. After successfully completing the training program at Maharah, each trainee receives a certificate from Maharah Coding School.
